My name is Tiffani Sims and I am a Mother of 1, Wife to a Wonderful Husband & Diversity Talent Champion for DTS. I am originally from Detroit, MI and of course I love everything Detroit, except the weather. Also I am a mover, yes I love moving, every 2 years I used to move, but recently I found a for-now home in Charlotte, NC. If you ever get a chance to chat I'd love to explore our commonalities or even better learn what makes us different. I am truly passionate about EVERYTHING that I care about, probably overly passionate.
When I applied to college I was ready to go to school for Interior Decorating. When we had the college visit and the Admissions Counselor asked me my major, I blurted out "Interior Decorating" with a huge grin, proudly displaying my ability to make a decision on my future without ANY guidance. My mom patted my eager knee that was bouncing uncontrollably, and unnoticeably to me. She glanced at me and her glare quickly turned to the Counselor and she smiled while saying, "She meant Human Resource Management". My knee slowed down, my ear to ear grin started to slowly became a resting face, while the words start to ring in my ears my eyebrows start to touch due to my state of confusion. I looked at my mother and said but... she shut me down before I could even finish, with a very stern look, her teeth remained clenched together and she managed to speak between them saying, "If you want to go to college it will be for Human Resource Management". I immediately shutdown, we all know what a mother speaking through her teeth means seriousness. That began my journey into a field I've never heard of nor was passionate about, but got me out of the house.
Fast forward, I had my first dabble into HR as an intern with Addecco as a Recruiter. There is when I realized that my calling within HR is under Talent Acquisition. Let's keep in mind what I mentioned early, "Everything I do, I do it with a passion". Therefore, recruiting was not enough I needed to be an expert within my field. But experts within Talent seemed to common so I wanted to narrow down my expertise to a granular level that would allow me to create a lane of my own. What does that look like?
After graduating in 2004 with my Bachelors majoring in Human Resource and minoring in Computer Engineering. My Associates Degree is in Applied Science with a major in Computer Engineering. I've been recruiting for over 15 years while focusing on Diversity for the last 10+ years.
